Joe’s dynamic and colorful style of playing the guitar is unique in that he has the capability to execute a wide range of Spanish music styles. He performs solo flamenco and classical pieces as well as accompanied music using his own pre-recorded backups to achieve the desired effect. His styles include traditional gypsy flamenco, nouveau flamenco, bossa nova, rhumba, salsa, mambo and other Latin rhythms.

In most of Joe’s accompanied pieces, he has personally arranged and performed the supporting music in his recording studio. He uses a keyboard synthesizer and his flamenco guitars along with a state of the art digital recording and mix-down system. The end product is a sound that can vary between a soloist to orchestral.

As a result of his formal training in Classical and Flamenco music, Joe uses a traditional flamenco finger style playing technique. When he performs solo Flamenco, he follows the traditional Classical style similar to Sabicas and Paco Pena. He also performs the more contemporary Nouveau Flamenco style (Rhumba) like Ottmar Liebert and the Gypsy Kings. When Joe performs his Brazilian favorites he emulates the styles of the late Charlie Byrd and Paulinho Nogueira.
